Doc. L-004 · LegalDRAFT — NOT YET REVIEWED BY A U.S. ATTORNEY

Refunds and Cancellation

VERSION 1.0 EFFECTIVE: AT LAUNCH — DATE TO BE SET APPLIES TO: CLAUSEBOOK.CO
WHAT CHANGED IN THIS VERSION
  • First published version for the United States (v1.0). The 14-day refund is our own promise, and it survives the download.
EVERY CLAUSE HAS A PLAIN-ENGLISH NOTE — HOVER OR FOCUS TO READ IT →

1 Our promise

1.1Every purchase can be refunded within 14 days of the order — no questions, no forms, one email to help@clausebook.dk.
What this meansWe mean the “no questions” part. “It wasn’t what I needed” is a complete sentence.
1.2This applies even after you have downloaded the document. It is a promise we make, not a right the law gives: the federal Cooling-Off Rule covers sales made away from the seller’s place of business, such as at your door (16 C.F.R. § 429.0(a)), not a purchase made on a website like this one. We refund anyway.
What this meansWe could refuse a refund after a download. We think that is a bad way to sell trust.
1.3The same goes for every subscription payment: ask within 14 days of a charge, and we refund that charge in full.
What this meansThe promise does not end with the pass.

2 How refunds and canceling work

2.1Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within 5 business days of your request. You never pay a fee for a refund.
What this meansYour bank may then take its usual few days to show it.
2.2When an order is refunded, its link to the document stops working and its update emails stop.
What this meansFair’s fair: the refund undoes the purchase, both ways.
2.3How to ask for a refund: reply to your confirmation email, write to help@clausebook.dk, or use the contact form with the topic “Refund or cancellation.” Your order number helps us find the purchase faster. We confirm that we have your message.
What this meansAny clear message will do. The order number just saves time.
2.4Canceling the subscription is different from a refund. The cancellation page — “Cancel your subscription” at the foot of every page, clausebook.co/cancel, and the links on your order page and in your confirmation email — stops the subscription that follows the pass: enter the order number and the email on your receipt and press “Cancel now.” Your pass runs to its end, nothing is charged after it, and we confirm by email right away, with the date and time. You can also reply to your confirmation email and say you want to cancel. To get money back as well, use § 2.3.
What this meansTwo kinds of “cancel”: one stops what comes next, the other undoes what you paid for.
2.5Before you pay, the payment step shows the short version of this policy, our legal name and our street address. Ask us at help@clausebook.dk and we email you those details within five days.
What this meansCalifornia asks an online seller for exactly this before it takes a payment (Bus. & Prof. Code § 17538(d)).

3 The one limit

3.1The refund promise is voluntary, and it may be withdrawn from someone who repeatedly buys, downloads and asks for a refund. Rights the law gives you are never affected.
What this meansThe clause that keeps the generous promise possible for everyone else.
