DOC. 000 · THE DOCUMENT BEHIND THE DOCUMENTS

The law is public. Understanding it should be too.

Clausebook exists because the documents that shape ordinary lives — tenancy agreements, car sales, powers of attorney — are priced like secrets and written like riddles. We think that’s a choice. We made a different one.

THE WHOLE SHELF — EVERY STATUTE WE TRACK, NOTHING HELD BACK
Art. 1 — WHY WE EXIST

Paperwork is where trust between people gets written down. It shouldn’t need a translator.

Most people meet the legal system perhaps ten times in a life — a tenancy, a sale, a job, a just-in-case.

Each of those moments comes with a document. And each document comes with a choice: pay a lawyer for an hour you can’t afford, download something anonymous from page four of a search, or shake hands and hope.

We build the fourth option: documents checked against current law before release, kept current when the law moves, and explained in words you could read aloud to the person signing across the table from you — at a price that’s on the button, not in a quote.

Art. 2 — WHAT WE HOLD OURSELVES TO

Four clauses we can be measured against.

HOVER OR FOCUS A PRINCIPLE — ‘WHAT THIS MEANS’ APPEARS IN THE MARGIN
cl 2.1Plain English is a legal feature, not a marketing one. A clause you don’t understand is a clause you can’t rely on. Every template comes with a plain-English note on every provision.
What this meansYou’ve seen these notes on our policy pages. They’re not decoration — they’re the product.
cl 2.2Current, or nothing. A template drafted for last year’s law is worse than no template. We track the statutes on the shelf above and review every document again when one of them moves.
What this meansThe ‘LEGAL FACTS VERIFIED OCTOBER 2026’ line in every footer is this clause, kept.
cl 2.3Honest about our limits. We are not a law firm and are not entitled to engage in legal practice in Australia: we sell documents you complete yourself and general information about the law they follow, never advice about your own situation. Where a lawyer is the right call, our documents say so — even when it costs us the sale.
What this meansDisputes, businesses, unusual family arrangements: that is when an Australian legal practitioner earns their fee, and we say so plainly.
cl 2.4The price on the button is the price: $1 for a 48-hour pass to every document, then $32 every 4 weeks until you cancel — cancel any time, and a refund within 14 days even after download, no questions asked, because ‘no questions’ means no questions.
What this meansRefund policy, clause 1.2. When you buy online and simply change your mind, Australian law gives you no right to a refund. We refund anyway: anything else is a bad way to sell trust.
Art. 3 — THE COMPANY, AS A CHANGELOG

We version everything. Including ourselves.

The idea

Every legal document should come with a margin note that says what it actually means. Clausebook starts in Copenhagen as a set of design prototypes built around that one rule.

v 0.9July 2026

Prototypes approved

Ten pages, one metaphor: the product is a library of law and every page is a typeset document. First for Denmark, with Danish documents.

v 1.0October 2026

The site you are reading

Australia gets its own library, starting with Queensland: four documents written for the law of Queensland — two of them in the Queensland Government’s own words — not translated from Danish. Every legal fact was read in the legislation and on the Queensland and Australian Government sites in October 2026.

Read us where it counts: in the fine print.

Our own terms carry the same plain-English notes as everything we sell. That’s the whole idea, applied to ourselves.
